]]> I’ve said it before.  I’ll say it again.  I love this family!  We have photographed the weddings of most of the friends and family of this couple and every time it’s an honor.
So when Joe called last week and asked if we could photograph his proposal to his girlfriend we jumped!
Absolutely.  Yes.  When?
Today was the day!  And it was beautiful!

Here’s the setup:
I arrived minutes after Kari came home from work.  The story Joe sprung on her as she walked in was that someone in his family arranged for me to come take photos of them with their new house.  So, hurry up and change!  She came down and we proceeded to take some photos of them with their house.  Then, I moved them to a little woodsy area that I thought would be perfect for the proposal.  After taking a few there, I lamented that I hadn’t brought any props.  I said we could have made it look very “autumn” with some apples from Joe’s family’s orchards.  JOE TO THE RESCUE!  He said, “I think I have something.  Let me go get it.”

And, he came back with this sign.  He carried it over with the back facing Kari, so she didn’t really see it.  You can see him here thinking, “Did she see it?  Does she get it?”

The answer was, “NO.”  So, he turned it around to show her.  She said, “awwwww.”  Still not getting it!

So, Joe broke out the ring box.  And, EVERY GIRL knows what that means!

He said a few very beautiful and sweet words about how much she means to him.  And asked her to marry him.  YES!!

Then she said, “Put it on me!”  He was all too happy to oblige.

It’s starting to sink in:

And, then, with the sign, again.  But, this time, the smiles come from the inside out.

I smiled the Whole. Way. Home.  What an honor to witness and record this treasured event!

]]> Our friend, Brandon, called us about a month ago to see if we’d be willing to photograph his proposal to his girlfriend, Kristin.  Uh, YES!  Absolutely!!

The setting: Niagara Falls overlooking Horseshoe Falls on a Friday night, exactly 11 months after they first started dating. Perfect weather, a minimal amount of tourist traffic, and Kevin and myself photographing.  Plus, our 14-year-old son filming the entire thing.  And, I got to witness my first ever live proposal (that wasn’t to me, lol).

Trying to lip-read, it looks like he’s starting the “will” part of the immortal question:

The moment it hit:

 The answer was, “YES!!”  I think this is about the moment that the few passers-by began to applaud.

And, this face must mean – good choice in rings, Brandon!

And we weren’t finished yet.  Kristin’s sister secretly packed the clothes she wanted to wear for her engagement shoot.  So, immediately after the big moment, they changed, and we took this emotionally raw engagement shoot!

And, then, the icing on the cake.  Kristin began her phone calls to tell her family.  First call – her mom.  Awwwwww!

We were THRILLED to be there for this emotionally charged evening!  Brandon and Kristin, thank you so much for this gift.  May God bless you richly all the days of your lives.

]]> It was one of those off-and-on stormy days when we met Ryan and Rhiannon in Akron Park for their engagement shoot.  Rhiannon and I had talked several times on the phone preparing for this shoot and I was always struck by how sweet and bubbly she sounds.  In person, she is exactly the same.  We had a blast and time got away from us on this shoot!  Before we knew it, the sun was setting.

 He brought his guitar.  LOVE!!

This beautiful, artsy background is a wet tennis court.  Thankfully, Kevin spotted it and we stopped!
