Last week I had the amazing opportunity to travel to St. Louis, Missouri to participate in a one-of-a-kind educational event called, “After Dark Education.”  This photography workshop event is very hands-on.  I came home with new techniques to try and new products to buy!  Actually, I bought over $3000 worth of new equipment back in my hotel room after attending the first day’s workshops.

I stayed at the gorgeous Union Station Doubletree hotel.  All of these images were taken in or around the hotel.

This is a pretty typical class.  Check out the small class size!!  We had full access to the mentors, which I loved.  The man in the middle of this image, with the model, is Neil van Niekerk.  He taught how to use an off-camera video light to get moody, gorgeous lighting.

And, this is my resulting image.  Wow!!

The class moved around quite a bit.  In this image, the model is on the piano with 2 video lights on her; one to light her hair from behind, and one to give her face light.

This is a class on creativity.  Here is the “behind-the-scenes.”

And, this is my resulting image:

Pretty amazing, right?  I have more to share (but it’s late).  So, if you want to see more, check back tomorrow.  ðŸ™‚

Since I’ve been getting more and more potential clients who (due to distance) are unable to sit down with me before they book their date, I’ve created this post to show off the designed engagement books.  Engagement photo sessions are a really great way to give us the chance to work together before the wedding.  It always makes the wedding day smoother and more relaxed.  Plus, you get this designed coffee-table book with your favorite images in it!  I usually design them to be 8×10 books.  That means when you open it, the spread is 20×8.
Once we’ve designed it, you receive an email with the proposed layout.  This is the cover (open flat).
The following images are page spreads.
Once you receive the digital preview, you have complete freedom to make changes.  We work together to be sure that you LOVE it before it’s printed.  Production time is about 3 weeks on these books.  So, I usually like to take engagement photos at least a month before the wedding.

Today is the Thursday following a Saturday wedding. AND, I am not stressed! I have felt so blessed all week as Kevin has used his giftings to help me edit, organize, and design wedding images. I am SO STOKED to present this album to the bride and groom! It has the work, time, and strengths of two people poured into it. And, it is AWESOME! (if I do say so myself 🙂 Once they’ve previewed it and made any necessary changes, I look forward to sharing it here. So, stay tuned!

Wedding Season. It’s almost here! I have had most of the winter to reflect, plan, study, and make changes to Jennifer Allis Photography. Last November I went to a professional photograhers’ convention in New Orleans. I saw a great new trend in wedding photography: married couples working together in their business. I knew that if my husband, Kevin, and I could do this, Jennifer Allis Photography would start to shine in very cool ways. I prayed about this and then asked him.  He said, “YES!” This year he will assist me and photograph at every wedding. Whereas I strive to capture “moments,” he has a very artistic, detailed bend. Together, we will be able to offer our clients some very awesome wedding photography! Check back soon to see more changes coming to Jennifer Allis Photography!!
